In November 2022 Pat Boyce was elected to a three-year term on the Board of the American Association of Variable Star Observers (AAVSO). He founded BRIEF, a non-profit, in 2013 to introduce students to the scientific community through research in astronomy. He and his students have been active participants in the AAVSO and its programs.
Before retirement, Mr. Boyce was an owner and President of a five-hundred-person high tech defense contractor, Horizons Technology which he sold in 1998. In preparation for general management, he participated in proposing or managing hundreds of government contracts in financial, contract, and project management positions. At various times in his career has been Corporate Controller, Corporate Secretary, Chief Financial Officer, and Division Manager. He has served on ten Boards of Directors for profit, industry, and non-profit organizations. Mr. Boyce has a B.S. in Physics from Indiana University and an MSIA from Purdue University.
