Boyce-Astro Exoplorer and Telescope Operator training begins in January 2023

The Exoplorer seminar in photometry of exoplanet transits starts in mid-January of 2023. Students must complete the IntroSTARS course and preferably DoubleSTARS as well. Emphasis is on targeting and observing exoplanets with one of BRIEF’s observatories and reducing the data using EXOTIC. Students then submit their results to the AAVSO to be published by Exoplanet Watch on the JPL / NASA website.

An informal training program for future telescope operators began in early January for Boyce-Astro alumni. Students will progress through increasing levels of sophistication in observatory operations as their busy schedules allow. This training is seen as a self-paced progression and students may enter the program at various times in the year.
